Not The Royal Variety raises hundreds for Streets2Homes

A CHARITY night called the Not The Royal Variety Show raised hundreds for a local Harlow cause.

Hosted by Clare Harrison McCartney, the night at Burnt Mill Social Club ranged from the eccentric to the ridiculous to the fabulous.

There was laughter and tears as the musical acts took the audience on an emotional journey through the connection of their voices to stories.

Importantly, it raised £370.00 for homeless charity Streets2Homes.

First up was comedian Madge Hooks who came from London to perform. She got the laughs and managed to shut up a heckler.

Next up was local vocalist Cara Sheridan who belted out hotel California by the Eagles.

Britain’s Got Talent magician, Al Prendo Taylor was up next with his egg trick. He smashed it.

The voices of Harlow choir followed, with Ghost town by The Specials, which they said was how our town of Harlow is now portrayed. This is true, since the bands play no more after the iconic Square was demolished.

The final act of the first half were the Monks from London. They are christians who bring comedy to create laughter and light. They were hilarious and bought the house down.

The Fraudway Singers headlined with over an hour of performances from all of your favourite musicals. Their act was extremely well crafted . It took your emotions on a journey through the medium of song, which left you feeling astounded by their talent and abilities to touch and move your soul.

Councillor Shannon jezzard helped host Clare Harrison McCartney, with the raffle and did a short speech about the importance of Amnesty International Harlow .

It was a fun packed night with a range of different acts . They raised £370 for streets to homes.

The next charity night at Burnt Mill Social Club is Comic Relief night. It’s only £5 and is on 15th March at 7.30pm.

Clare Harrison McCartney said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came to our variety performance to raise money for streets to homes. See you at comic relief on 15th March”.
