Tragedy as Harlow headteacher dies after being stuck by car

DAVID Bown, the Headmaster of Saint Nicholas School in Old Harlow has died after a car struck him early on the evening of Friday 22nd February whilst he was out walking in the Brecon Beacons with his teenage son. David 50, who was originally from Wales, had returned to Cardiff to watch this weekend’s rugby international.
Rob Ellice, Chairman on the school’s governing board said; “Our whole school community has been deeply shocked and saddened at this tragic news. David was a dynamic and visionary headmaster and was immensely popular with the children, the parents and his colleagues. We are all working hard to support each other through this difficult time.”
David leaves behind a wife, who also teaches at the school and his teenage son, who is a pupil in Year 11. They have asked for their privacy to be respected as they come to terms with their devastating loss.
