2020 Essex Teaching Award nominations now open

NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2020 Essex Teaching Awards, which aim to shine a spotlight on the education colleagues making a real difference to the lives of pupils across the county.

Led by Essex County Council, the annual awards help to recognise those going above and beyond within an early years, primary, secondary and special school setting, to support children and young people to learn, grown and achieve.

Anyone can make a nomination and the categories for next year’s Essex Teaching Awards are:

Childminder of the Year
Early Years and Childcare Practitioner of the Year (in the private, voluntary and independent sector)
Lifetime Achievement
New Teacher of the Year
Non-Teaching Staff Member of the Year (includes but not limited to administrative staff, technical staff and facilities staff)
Primary Headteacher of the Year
Primary Teacher of the Year
School Team of the Year
Secondary Headteacher of the Year
Secondary Teacher of the Year
Special School Teacher of the Year
Student Choice (student nominators only)
Teaching Assistant of the Year

Cllr Ray Gooding, Essex County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, said: “The lasting impact teachers and other education colleagues have on our lives cannot be underestimated; it is often their enthusiasm and support that help to shape the direction we take in life – whether we realise it at the time or not.

“I would absolutely encourage anyone who knows an inspirational member of staff within an early years or education setting, to make a nomination and help us recognise their contribution to education in Essex.”

The deadline for nominations is midnight on Sunday 3 November 2019.
