Isthmian Cup

Harlow Town Ladies 0 v 3 Enfield Town Ladies

HARLOW Town Ladies fielded a line up of the young fringe players looking to give them some game time and gain vital experience before the biggest game of the season in two weeks vs Billericay Town in the FA Cup. Winning this will see them pass the furthest stage in the competition they have previously achieved and winning a substantial financial prize.

Harlow conceded a blow with a shot from 30 yards out in the in 3rd minute by Enfield Midfielder Macy Diaz, Harlow’s Keeper Charlie Orwlell was scrambling to get finger tips to the ball as it went over her head.

Harlow’s head dropped slightly and was being overrun and out pressured by the well organised opposition.
A few chances was created by the midfield of Harlow slotting it past the Enfield defenders for the strikers to attack but they wasn’t able to finish their chances.

Enfield took advantage of a mistake made by Harlow’s defence and scored a second goal in the 35th minute by Olivia Syson.

Harlow seemed flustered with the pressure of Enfield and kept giving the ball away but managed to see out the half 2-0 down.

Harlow made two substitutes starting the second half changing the game and upped the tempo, the majority of game play was in the final third but they couldn’t find the net with another two chances being missed.

Harlow still battled on and looked in good spirits playing better than they did in the first half but Enfield managed to score the third and final goal by Beth Lumsden in the 60th minute with a shot across the goal keeper.

Harlow showed heart and battled for every ball still applying pressure with another chance for Fran Gamble to score but skying the ball in front of goal. The pressure continued and substitute Liv Steele was taken down in the box giving Harlow a penalty, Captain Kaydee King stepped up with a powerful shot but hit the post and the rebound shot from Beth Chambers being saved by the Enfield Keeper.

This just summed up Harlow Towns night, they couldn’t finish their chances and they seemed flustered under pressure but positively they showed a lot of heart as a team and valuable lessons was learnt and Head Coach Terry Harrison will come away from the game and work on the issues.

Head Coach Terry Harrison said: “We now know where we are light in the squad, we will be working on certain aspects in training and trying trying to replicate that on the pitch.

It was our first loss of the season which enabled us to see the players fighting spirit. It was a good opportunity to give our squad players a run out and I would like to wish Enfield good luck in the next round of the cup ”
