Your Harlow publishes 4,000th story in 2019

WITH just a few hours left, Your Harlow has published its 4,000th story in 2019.
This is quite a landmark for us in what has become quite a year.
We would just like to thank each and every one of our readers, viewers, likers, followers, subscribers for looking in.
We describe the way we work as “One journalist in partnership with 80,000 people” and it is true.
We were very proud to appear on BBC’s The One Show in May, when they shadowed us for the day. Alex Jones introduced the article by saying” “And now we go to Harlow to follow one man’s battle to keep the local news in Harlow.” The piece was then called “”last journalist in town”. A friend pulled me back down to earth saying “Oi, who do you think you are, Bruce Willis? Wandering around Harlow in your vest with a notebook?!” Well, sort of…….
Don’t let anyone tell you there isn’t anything good happening in Harlow. Of the 4,000 stories, less than 10% are crime. From Katherines to Old Harlow, there are great things going on in this town.
There is lots to scrutinise and lots to challenge. Sometimes, you feel there are two Harlow’s. One that involves a new hospital, new junction 7a, new housing, new jobs and much more.
The other Harlow is one where people feel left behind, caught in the middle, excluded.
We hope that Your Harlow has represented everyone since we launched in July 2013. If we have come up short then we will try and raise our game in 2020 and beyond.
In 2017, we published 2,500 stories. In 2108, 3,197 and as you can see we have now burst through the 4,000 barrier. Our readership has also gone through the roof.
2014: 300,769
2015: 255,920
2016: 503,800
2017: 705,454
2018: 1,482,769
2019, 2,796,249
