Letter to Editor: A plea from a Harlow cancer sufferer

Health / Mon 23rd Mar 2020 at 10:18am

This is a letter from a very special friend of the YourHarlow team. We love Jillian Aylott very much. Her husband Paul is a bit of a legend. They often join our editor and his good lady wife, Sally on holiday. They aren’t invited, they just rock up. The above picture is taken in the Algarve (which is not described as a holiday but apparently just a “pop”). We would all quite like to go the Algarve again. Please listen to Jill.

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to put my point across to people who know me and those who do not but everyone must know someone like me be it an adult or child.

Since September last year I’ve been treated for cancer. I’ve had two operations plus chemotherapy and the wonderful NHS are fighting to make me better.

My next operation, which is the important one to remove the cancer, is scheduled for 1st April but only if my wonderful Oncologist surgeon and his team don’t get ill with this virus!

So please people, there are thousands of people like me that are not only worried about getting the virus but worried about not been able to get operations that will save our lives!

Think about others. You know that everyone of you are responsible for saving lives of people with cancer. If you stay in, our oncologists, surgeons nurses and doctors, scientists can continue to save us.

Think before you go out. You can help save cancer-suffers.

We have a huge fight on our hands already don’t make it worse for us.

Thank you x

Jillian Aylott
