Harlow Labour slam 1% pay rise as an insult to NHS heroes

Health / Tue 9th Mar 2021 at 01:36pm

THE Government’s proposal of a 1% pay increase for our NHS heroes is an insult to those who worked, at great risk, to keep us safe throughout the pandemic say Harlow Labour.

NHS workers have been on the frontline from the beginning, working with inadequate PPE, overstretched and understaffed, but through it all they cared for us and held the hands of our loved ones.

For all their efforts, the Government is prepared to pay nurses a measly £3.50 a week extra. It’s a disgrace.

Staple Tye councillor, Stefan Mullard, said: “We stood out on the streets and clapped for NHS workers week-in-week-out as a way of showing our appreciation for their incredible dedication. But they deserve more than just appreciation, they deserve a real pay rise.

“As someone who comes from a family of nurses, I know all too well the terrible strain they have been under.

“The 1% being proposed by the Government is not just insulting – when you account for inflation it works out as a real-terms pay cut!

“Once again, we’ve had nothing but hollow words from the Conservatives.”
Harlow Labour stand with those upset and outraged NHS workers who feel mistreated and misled by this callous Conservative government.
