Mixed reactions to plans for more houses in Newhall

General / Mon 7th Feb 2022 at 11:32am

A PLANNING application for seven more homes in Newhall has been submitted to Harlow Council.

The application is for: Erection of seven dwellings, together with associated car parking and amenity space.

Location: Land On The West Side Of New Pond Street, Newhall.

For more details, go to the www.harlow.gov.uk and search for HW/FUL/22/00029

There have been a number of objections as well as support to and for the application.

For example:

Against

“In the past there has been a ferret in my garden, newts and frogs from the pond nearby and I would pray that the building site doesn’t effect the conservation and wildlife in the area. I am completely against the building of more houses in such a confined space.”

=====

“Not only will this impact my privacy to my home it will overshadow and will become over looked. The building work will cause impact to me and could potentially damage my house or surroundings and cause disruption. Also there is not enough parking around here as it is so am concerned if the car park goes will all the vans and cars move to already blocked roads”

For

I am happy to see that this piece of wasteland has been earmarked for developement. I have lived on New Pond St for nearly three years and I love it and the Newhall area.

I am in full support of the development as I believe it it will enhance the area and the neighbourhood where I live. There are a couple of things what I would hope are taken into consideration, which are as follows:

1. The width of the road and parking – At the moment the road is quite narrow, which makes is difficult for vehicles to pass. If parking is not adequately planned it may make the road difficult to access, which could cause problems. Ideally parking restrictions on one side of the street could solve this problem.

2. Light and Privacy – I hope that the plans will still allow my home to be flooded with light, which I know maybe compromised by the position of at least two of these new properties, which appear to

3. This means that I am afforded much light and some privacy. I note from the elevation plans that there are balconies to the front of the properties. Which I hope are set at a suitable level to not allow viewing into the top windows

property)? The glass in these windows is not frosted, which currently allows me to see the sky and sunlight.

I am in full support of this development and really like these initial plans and designs. I hope that the architects and planners will work with the current residents of New Pond Street to ensure that our light, access and parking are planned, enhanced`and not compromised. I really enjoy where I live and see this development as as a welcomed addition.

None of theses new unaffordable houses are council homes. I've been told by one of your colleagues that your building hundreds and hundreds. Lies, your building housing association, which are private. Have you all any idea how many people waiting for homes. This is not thinking of people in Harlow. This is thinking of your self's and the greed and profit that you make from it. I've lived here all my life, and over years seen this town turn into a concrete jungle and its getting worse, and it will be worse once your finished. If your going to build let it be for council, for future generations. This is a greed and profit thing pure and simple. And not a thought for people. SAVE OUR STORT. Another thing you want to ruin. And just to add, have some care and thought, for people living in theses ereas, where your building, your fencing them in.

Moved into Newhall 11 years ago from London a concrete jungle. Loved the area the open green spaces and the woods. My husband and I would walk for hours along the open farm land. Now it’s getting just like London such a shame.

Lesley, I used to walk with dog over there, through woods down to church Gate Street, from bushfair. It's used to be so beautiful, the fields , the colour s, over theses fields amazing, wild life singing. Beautiful walk. Last time I went through them woods, it was like rush hour, never get it back. Just glad I saw it as it used to be. That old farm house that once sat in this beautiful scenery, now surrounded with concrete. So sad. I've never been back.
