Robert Halfon MP and Council Leader tour town following Storm Eunice

News / Sat 19th Feb 2022 at 05:40pm

THIS morning, Harlow’s MP, Robert Halfon, and the Leader of Harlow Council, Cllr Russell Perrin, toured areas of the town damaged by Storm Eunice.

The two visited all corners of the town, reporting issues and speaking with residents about what support is in place to help anyone impacted by the terrible weather.

Commenting, Mr Halfon said: “This morning I saw the impact the high winds and subsequent rain on properties and trees across the town.

“I will do everything possible to help any resident impacted by the weather. I would strongly encourage anyone that has suffered to contact me directly via email on [email protected].

“I am pleased to be working with the Council to ensure that the response to these issues is fast and as helpful as possible. I would like to thank everyone involved with the clean up effort and all those workers who have been working throughout this time to help residents.”

Cllr Russell Perrin said: “The Council has put in place a comprehensive and swift response to problems caused by Storm Eunice. I would like to pay sincere thanks to all council officers, HTS staff and emergency services across the town who have worked so hard to help residents.

“We will continue to monitor the impact of the storm and do all we can to remedy all of these issues.”

I would like to ask in what way does Mr Halfon expect to help? He is always saying 'working hard for Harlow', he works for a political party that have never done anything to help the working man. He is a typical Tory saying all the right things but never delivering on their promises. ✌️✌️

I think that is a unfair comment he has done more and works hard for Harlow than previous MP in this town and is very approachable

Just another photo opportunity. Does anyone really believe that our MP can help in any way? Much of the damage has been done to private property, if the Council had a tree maintenance programme then much less damage would have been caused. Residents do not need Councillors going around the town to report incidents, we can all do that ourselves.

I'm not a supporter of any single political party but consider some remarks about Robert Halfon to be unfair. He is the best MP we have ever had and deserves praise for what he does.

I agree that Robert Halfon is the best MP this town has had. He is a real champion for Harlow and the villages.

I agree Robert has been and is an excellent MP. Just a shame he represents the worst Government and PM we’ve ever had.

I disagree that he is the best mp we have ever had, I find him to be a two faced cur who uses his disability in order to rack up sympathy votes. And before anyone screams at me for my comment, I am physically disabled, as is my mum and we have believed that about him for years

All depends on your side of the fence. You might even be sitting on it. Here's how he votes. https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/24784/robert_halfon/harlow/votes?gclid=CjwKCAiA6seQBhAfEiwAvPqu1_2sTY4VwD6Sx1f2JtFXRHwHrf0meCPHsZPS8Bpyxo73B73bv6la4hoCGFUQAvD_BwE

I have to agree with Barry. Robert Halfon cares about Harlow, he does live here after all. Unfortunately I dislike the party/Government he represents. No need to say any more about that bunch of self serving hypocrites. I'm sure there are more decent Tory MPs like Robert but I think they must be few and far between.

The largest problems are trees and fences coming down. I mentioned a dangerous one on our Green to Contact Harlow three times, and told them it was dangerous. This was before the storms and in the end our neighbour fixed it and cut it down. Fences do not come under insurance claims, and sadly residents will probably have to pay themselves to fix these. If we do get so called extra money for a clean up as we were supposed to get for potholes, then I suggest we get both our Councils to raise their games and start delivering for the people of this town. I suggest our elected representatives get out of their ivory towers and look for the issues that need sorting rather than waiting for storms to do so!
