HARLOW Art Trust are delighted to announce that Barbara Hepwoth’s famous sculpture “Contrapuntal Forms” safely returned home to Glebelands yesterday.
The 10 -foot tall, 3 tonne sculpture had been on show at a special exhibition on the life of Barbara Hepworth at the Hepworth Wakefield Museum. In its place the sculpture “Bright Eyes” by Eva Rothschild has been on display in Glebelands.

Yesterday specialist art technicians from Mtec dealt with strong bitingly cold winds as they carefully took down “Bright Eyes” and reinstalled “Contrapuntal Forms”.
Local residents have enjoyed seeing Bright Eyes but are very happy to have the Hepworth back. Glebelands resident Kevin Mathews watched the exchange take place and kindly made tea and coffee to the Mtec team. He explained how pleased he was to see the Hepworth back. He said “It is nice to have something as beautiful and part of Harlow heritage to see first thing in the morning as I open the blinds. A glance when I come back from a hard day’s work can be soothing. It is pleasing to the eye.”
Harlow Art Trust Trustee Liz Boast also watched the sculpture exchange. Liz said “knowing how much Harlow residents enjoy living close to the sculptures and how much they appreciate them makes our work at the Harlow Art Trust so worthwhile.”
