Embers from fire pit spread to house in Sheering

News / Tue 19th Apr 2022 at 06:53am

ESSEX Firefighters were called to a fire in Sheering on Monday after embers from a fire pit spread to a house.

On arrival at Sheering Mill Lane, crews reported that external cladding on a house was on fire and worked to extinguish it by 1:45pm on Easter Monday.

Firefighters believe the fire started after embers from a fire pit spread to the cladding.

If you’re planning to have a bonfire or use a fire pit:

  • Site it well away from houses, sheds, fences, trees and bushes
  • Never leave it burning unattended
  • Pour water on the embers before leaving
