Energy boss urges £1,000 bill cut for 10 million

THE boss of Scottish Power has warned that millions of customers face an horrific winter unless there is a major government intervention in energy firms reports the BBC.
Keith Anderson, chief executive of Scottish Power, told the BBC that another expected rise in energy bills in October to between £2,500 and £3,000 a year could see huge losses for suppliers and many customers unable to pay their bills.
He warned regulator Ofgem that setting the new price cap too low could risk suppliers collapsing or the foreign owned firms leaving the market.

I have just heard about a family with three children who are with Shell Energy Home and have received their new monthly direct debit amount... £293. Shell made profits of £7.3 billion in the first three months of this year. Three times the amount from the same period last year. The Labour Party propose a windfall tax on these companies which would reduce household bills by up to £600 per annum. The Conservatives oppose this because they care more about corporate profits and shareholder dividends than they do about hard-working families. They talk about 'future investments' when families are suffering now, and old folk are riding the bus to keep warm.
