Charity / Thu 19th May 2022 at 07:28am

FOUR community projects have been selected for the first Harlow SOUP event this year:

  • Fishing in Mind; using fishing as a tool to socially connect people that suffer from mental ill health, social isolation, depravation, and generally to create a community of like minded people that can connect in nature
  • Friends of Harlow Pets Corner; Working with volunteers giving a free Beekeeping course and education on how important to our ecosystem honey bees are.
  • Recovery Through Nature; funding for a polytunnel for a social inclusion, community allotment run by Mind in West Essex and Future in Mind
  • Butterfly Volunteers at PAH; End of Life Care packs to support families of palliative care patients

Tickets for the event must be booked in advance, with all money raised going to support the project with the most votes on the day. To book please follow the link below:

The event will see the four projects pitch their idea in four minutes to attendees, as well as answer four questions from the audience who will then vote for their favourite project.

The event runs from 2 – 4pm, with a choice of two delicious homemade soups, a range of bread and cakes for afters.

Previous winners Harlow Wombles, who were awarded over £600 towards their project back in September 2021, will be presenting to attendees about how they have spent SOUP funds.

This Harlow SOUP event will also be holding a collection for Harlow Foodbank.

Previous winners of Harlow SOUP have included Aspire Support Learn (ASL), Pact for Autism and Harlow Stroke Support Group who all received hundreds of pounds towards their respective projects.
