Cycling: Full list of rolling road closures when Women’s World Tour comes to Harlow

News / Wed 25th May 2022 at 06:25am

THE rolling road closures in Harlow for the Women’s Tour on Tuesday 7 June 2022 have been updated and are now earlier than previously advised.

The race will set off at 11am from Harlow Innovation Park but is now expected to arrive back in the town via Water Lane at around 1.20pm.

Most road closures on the day will be rolling road closures. This means as soon as the race passes through each road, they will reopen.

There will be two roads as part of the finish route closed for long periods – part of Abercrombie Way and part of Third Avenue. However, diversions will be in place to ensure that people can still get to and from their home or business.

All closures are likely to delay journeys or affect the route that residents would normally make. Instead of driving residents are asked to consider cycling or walking if this is possible.

More information on how the rolling road closures will work is on the Women’s Tour website – www.womenstour.co.uk/race/road-closures/

The full list of closures and new approximate times for the rolling road closures are as follows:

This is the same day as the national GCSE maths exams. This will cause a great deal of stress to students, parents and teaching staff getting ready for the exams, if roads are closed from 5a.m.! These students have struggled enough through covid to get to this point, honestly please pick roads away from major Harlow school routes and the College!

Becky Jones Harlow is not that big and road closed will impact on very few schools. At the bottom ofvthe body are two stumps called legs, used for walking, enough said, pathetic comments from you.

I agree Craig, if your local to schools you should walk, they do have legs. Bit there's a lot that are not, that's the problem.

If more kids walked to school there wouldn't be the daily chaos outside schools. The town should be proud to host this event

Has Becky Jones even looked at what roads are closed when, or just gone on a negative rant for the sake of it?

I fully support the race. However, some of the comments are inaccurate. For example Burnt Mill has students bussed in from nearby areas, and the walk from Katherine’s and Sumners to the nearest secondary school is considerable. I had to walk two miles to my senior school (I’m old)! It didn’t do me any harm, but I didn’t enjoy it much at times. Please don’t judge others so harshly. Lastly exams, especially the dreaded maths, are very nerve racking, and any departure from the norm is upsetting.

I have to drive my child 15 miles into Harlow for school in the morning, and then onto my place of work. Hopefully the road closures won't still be in place by the time school ends. I agree with Patricia, don't judge people by their individual circumstances. It's a shame the event couldn't have taken place over the bank holiday weekend.
