Government Minister wishes Harlow community Happy Diwali on the floor of House of Commons

ROBERT Halfon, Member of Parliament for Harlow, today celebrated Diwali in the House of Commons.

Minister of State for Trade, Greg Hands MP, joined Mr Halfon in wishing everybody in Harlow and the villages a Happy Diwali whilst debating the ongoing negotiations for a trade agreement between the UK and India.

Robert also asked the Minister how the proposed trade deal with India will help Small and Medium Employers (SME) in Harlow and the villages.

Mr Halfon said: “I am delighted that Harlow has a vibrant Hindu community and I hope everybody is currently enjoying the Diwali celebrations. This afternoon, it was an honour and a privilege to join my ministerial colleagues in wishing everybody in Harlow and the villages a very Happy Diwali. I also welcome the work of the Minister in securing protections for small business across Harlow in his ongoing negotiations over the proposed trade agreement between the UK and India.”

There are around 4000 religions in the world per google, a good many represented in the UK, and they probably have a good many special days. But do MPs stand up to wish them a happy whatever, I doubt it. This seems a cynical bit of brown nosing to our new PM. Yes, I am an old cynic, but I do actually have, mostly, benevolence towards people, and are happy that they enjoy their special days, that includes our our politicians despite my cynicism
