RESIDENTS from across Epping Forest district are being asked to take part in a formal consultation on the Strategic Masterplan Framework document for North Weald Bassett.
A consultation was undertaken in June 2023 by Vistry Group – one of the UK’s leading house builders – which is heading up the development of the Masterplan. Since then, the Masterplan has evolved further and been submitted to the district council, which is now undertaking formal consultation before it is finalised and endorsed by the council.
The consultation runs from 21 November 2023 to 16 January 2024.
The Masterplan is required to be prepared by the Epping Forest District Council Local Plan in order to guide future development that has been allocated for North Weald Bassett.
The Masterplan includes:

“The vision for the strategic masterplan is to deliver a landscape-led plan, which respects the discrete character of the village and utilises existing landscape features.
“The final strategic masterplan for North Weald Bassett will establish a framework and principles for future growth in the village, helping to determine future planning applications.
“I would encourage residents to read the masterplan and have their say.”
The final Strategic Masterplan for North Weald Bassett will establish a framework and principles for future growth in the village. Epping Forest District Council will use the Masterplan for determining future planning applications.
Not sure how to feel abot this...
More homes on the edge of Harlow, putting even more pressure on the strained resources of Princess Alexandra Hospital. Maybe it is time to start charging developers and councils an additional services tax to ensure that monies are available for the continuing development of the hospital to meet this increasing demand.
Does it fit into the strategic vision for National transportation and allow for international expectations of future trade travel, local SMEs and as yet unknown business development.
Certain parts of northweald have been neglected over the years especially around northweald golf course. There is no public transport no street lighting no pavement for pedestrian to walk on Rayley lane can get very busy when boot sale is on Saturday and Sunday. Council should make a start here?
By the times all this proposed development is finished Harlow will be one urban sprawl all the beautiful countryside will be gone or out of reach of us as we age
Once again the fat cats just get richer. They destryo our countryside and make all of it into an urban jungle. Just you wait all the North Weald locals will be forced out and replaced with rich londoners who want a second home. Horrible!
