PLANS for a temporary shop in Gilden Park is set to go before Harlow Council’s planning committee
The application states: “Permission is sought for the construction of a temporary shop for a period of two years to meet the convenience retail needs of the local community pending completion of permanent, previously approved retail units. The shop would be provided within a converted shipping container to be placed on open land opposite Fieldfare Way.
“A condition is proposed to ensure that once the two-year period has elapsed the use would cease and the shop unit and associated infrastructure would be removed, leaving the site to be laid out in accordance with previously approved development. Subject to this and other appropriate conditions the proposal is considered acceptable and is recommended for approval.

Objections
Gilden Park has been around for years now and the best they can come up with is a shipping container like some slum. Will look awful and definitely be there permanently - as with the rest of the snail-like development of the area. We do desperately need a shop, as I don't drive and aren't particularly mobile. But not this, they can do better.
LoL,we are going backwards in this country, everything was designed and built so much better than it is today. A shipping container for a temporary shop for a relatively new housing area compared to some other areas. It has got to be a joke? Everything was built so much better in the past in my opinion.
I strongly disagree with the temporary solution for Shop. I’m new to Fairfield Way and I will object strongly. anything to do with a temporary solution will lead to rubbish, rodents bad behaviour.
A temporary shop is better than no shop. We had a temporary shop while redevelopment went ahead here with no issues at all.
Many permanent things were once temporary.
Yes agree we need some sort of shop around here at least somewhere to get a pint of milk.
So have Harlow Council rubber stamped this absurd application yet or not??
We don't need because coop and Tesco
We definitely do not want a shop here, there will be problems every day, this place is quiet and clean, please do not build a shop, thank you.
I would like to say this here: When buying houses here, no one bought them because they wanted to open a shop. We bought the house because it was a quiet and clean place, so I don't want a shop, thank you.
