Controversial former Tory candidate set to stand for Reform in up-coming by-election

REFORM UK has selected Peter Lamb to contest the ward of Little Parndon and Town Centre at a by-election next month.
The election has been called after the resignation of Chris Vince, who was elected as an MP in July.
Many may recall Mr Lamb as a Conservative candidate. His comments regarding Islam courted a great deal of controversy and he was duly suspended from the party.

In 2015, Mr Lamb tweeted: “Islam like alcoholism. The first step to recovery is admit you have a problem.”
He resigned from the party in 2019.
But it looks like he is back.
Reform UK polled 9,461 votes in the July General Election. That is 21.4% of the vote. Their candidate Malcolm Featherstone said after the count, that they would be back and it looks like they are.
None of the parties have officially declared candidates yet. The by-election is set for Thursday October 10th.
We will be catching up with Mr Lamb next week.
In May, Labour retained this seat with a 372 majority.

The only chance this country has is Reform.
Growing up in Dagenham in the 1960s I remember characters similar to Peter Lamb pouring out their bile at the Irish community, many of whom were targeted because they had jobs at Fords. This is despite the fact that the Irish were doing the dirty jobs at Fords that the English did not want, such as in the foundry. We later had the same bigots use IRA terrorism as a cover for their racism, whilst many ill-informed people didn't realise the collusion of the British State with Protestant sectarian politicians and their associated paramilitaries to disenfranchise and terrorise the Catholic minority. Now British Muslims are the target, which is just yet another minority in a long line of targets for narrow minded individuals who find Jew and Afro-Caribbean hating is no longer available to them due to a more enlightened society.
Now we have antisemitism and Labour !
Reform certainly seems to attract a certain type.
I wish him well. Good luck Peter
Lamb in sheep's clothing
what groups have targetted and killed completely innocent people ? 9-11 ? Lee Rigby ? the list is long but the murderers shout allulah akbar . Are you saying that these murders are acceptable because their religion tells them to kill non believers ? Reform have a simple honesty that tells the facts whilst others bury their heads in the sand and are horrified by such honesty .
Having had the pleasure of talking with Peter Lamb, he has frequently confirmed he regrets not having made it clear in his tweet that he was referring to extremism within Islam, not Islam in general, although that is how it read. I know that Peter Lamb is certainly neither racist nor against freedom of religion, and passed through a stringent vetting process. Peter has lived and worked in the ward of Little Parndon for the past 18 years and is very familiar with the issues that affect all local residents. I believe the ward will do very well to have at least one Reform UK figure on council to represent the 9,461 voters in Harlow who voted for Reform UK.
It seems strange that Peter is still being criticized for tweets that he made years ago, apologized for and accepted that he should have qualified as being about radical Islam, and yet all is OK with a Secretary of State for Health who multiple times advocated pushing someone he disagreed with under a train. Or an Under Secretary of State in the Home Office who has made racist and bullying tweets against a well-known Head Teacher. This wouldn't be double standards, would it?
