Crime / Mon 30th Sep 2024 at 03:10am

A DISPERSAL order is currently in place in Harlow following concerns regarding a large car meet this evening.

Police received a number of calls from concerned members of the public regarding a car meet involving more than 40 cars.

There had been reports of vehicles gathering in Oakes Retail Park in Howard Way and also in Burnt Mill and Edinburgh Way.

There are concerns regarding anti-social behaviour, excessive noise levels and dangerous driving in the area.

The dispersal order is in place from 10.30pm this evening (Sunday 29 September) until 6am tomorrow morning (Monday 30 September).

This order covers the area outlined in the map, including River Way, Church Langley, Old Harlow and Harlow town centre.

Inspector Tony Short said: “We use dispersal orders in a considered and proportionate way to make sure they are targeting anti-social behaviour and allowing people to go out their daily lives.

“We will not tolerate dangerous driving in any part of the town.”
