Police launch investigation after Harlow postman set upon by gang of thugs in Joyners Field

DETECTIVES investigating an incident whereby a postman was seriously assaulted are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The victim reported he was approached by a group of men in Joyners Field, Harlow, while working and assaulted.
He suffered injuries which are thankfully not life-threatening or life-changing, but required hospital treatment.
The assault was reported to have taken place at around 3pm on Sunday 13 October.
The investigation is ongoing.

Are the police doing house to house enquiries or just relying on the public to do the work for them? Appealing for witnesses is no substitute for using up some shoe leather and gathering door and dash cam evidence. What do we pay council tax for? Perhaps an update from Essex Police may allay our fears that our tax pounds are being wasted?

Joyner's Field, no surprise there... The streets are becoming more and more crime ridden, can't even be a postman in this day and age without getting set upon by lawless thugs. We need to set an example of these vermin and show everyone lawlessness on the streets cannot and will not be tolerated.

Terrible, during the day and attacking a postman. Any description of them would help ? It is getting bad and with little deterrents it will happen more and more. Hopefully once caught they deserve a long sentence but I fear it will not be.

Isn't it more relevant that its another shocking example of male on male violence? Isn't it more relevant that the vast majority of people arrested in England and Wales for violence offences so far in 2024 are men? Men are violent, whatever their ethnic background or race.

I was actually being sarcastic about people who make sweeping statements and generalisations about the ethnicity of the perpetrators of crime in cases like this. Some people are quite happy to make generalisations and sweeping statements about the race and ethnicity of the people involved in the crime, but then go on the defensive when similar generalisations are made about the sex of the criminals. And you Steve, Buffoooon and Lucy have just proved my point!

M you need understand percentages and the fact that England will have more English criminals because it’s England! Are you really that dumb? Look at knife crime stats? Look at the stats of sexual times in Germany, France, Sweden etc etc. it’s amazing such a small percentage of people make us such a large percentage of crime. Do your research.

It is strange how some have jumped to a conclusion about the nationality of the offenders when not even one clue regarding tbeir identity has been offered in the article or by commentators. If these commentators were present and heard the language being spoken, then I'm certain they can offer details of their appearance. May I suggest the Editor passes their IP addresses to the Police so that detectives can recover evidence from them and to assess whether charges of obstructing a police investigation are appropriate.
