ST Clare Hospice is offering a hassle-free way to support your local hospice this Christmas, from the comfort of your own home!

By arranging a Christmas tree collection, you can dispose of your real spruce, pine and fir trees sustainably once the festive season has come to an end, whilst helping to raise essential funds to support people who are living with a life-limiting illness, and their families.

Last year, the Hospice collected more than 1,450 trees from homes across west Essex and the border of East Herts, raising over £25,000 to help fund St Clare’s specialist care and support.

Ellie Gale, St Clare’s Relationship Fundraising Manager, said “If you’re looking for an easy way to dispose of your Christmas tree once the tinsel and baubles have been packed away, then we have the solution for you”.

Booking is now open, with collections taking place between 9th and 11th January 2025 in the following postcode areas:

CM5 & CM6
CM16, CM17, CM18, CM19, CM20, CM21, CM22, CM23, CM24
EN9
IG7, IG9 & IG10

St Clare works with local waste management organisations to collect the trees from people’s doorsteps and recycle them responsibly. The tree chippings are reused in a variety of ways, including as compost, in local allotments, on playing fields, or to create footpaths.

Ellie said: “This year we expect to be busier than ever, so if you want to avoid the long queues at your local tip in January, we are encouraging people to book their collection online as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

“Make sure to register your tree before Tuesday 7th January and you’ll be well on your way to enjoying the New Year without the chore of clearing out pine needles from your car boot.”
