“As someone who is new to the trust, I am overwhelmed by the warmth, dedication, and positivity from my new colleagues, which were reflected in the glowing citations for each award recipient.
“Our Long Service Awards honour those who exemplify loyalty and dedication, embodying a lifelong vocational calling that impacts lives every single day.
“Meanwhile, the Our Amazing People Awards spotlight extraordinary individuals who go above and beyond, recognised by their colleagues, patients, and loved ones for their outstanding contributions.
“For me, the NHS is more than a healthcare system; it’s a community of people who truly make it the nation’s most treasured institution. In times of rapid change and challenges, the resilience and adaptability of NHS staff continue to inspire. From navigating new technologies to embracing evolving healthcare models, our amazing people prove that nothing is beyond our reach.
“I’m extremely proud to be able to celebrate and appreciate the remarkable people who make the NHS and PAHT a beacon of care and compassion.
“Thank you for all you do to uphold our values every day.”
As nice as this is, I hope our taxes were not used to pay for this, especially when you consider the current staffing issue at this hospital.
The NHS is collapsing, begging for more money (though it does not need it, it needs control of its spending) and it does something like this. Who paid for it ? Especially after yesterday news article about £1M being spend on compensation. Stop rewarding a failing staff until they deliver!
Wow what awful comments, let’s commend these people for their dedication to saving lives and losing staff through Covid, well done to all at PAH
I have family members that work at the pointy end of the NHS and social services( as a successful business man I can afford to subsidise them). They think this is a big waste of money as it is about falsely boosting moral. The best way to boost moral is to manage better outcomes by investing in the correct staff at the pointy end instead of setting up people to fail, then giving false rewards. People who care for people see positive outcomes as all the reward they need, and being paid fairly is a bonus.. Unfortunately the government really take the piss out of good people that care, and continually guilt trip them to try and do better with less and less. This is the reality of the NHS and our social services. My family members are just a few lucky ones that can do a job they love and not be concerned about being underpaid, the majority of people in the NHS and social services cannot, and a bit of recognition really does not fill the void. And yes some of my family members have been recognised nationally for their work! Apologies for the rant but sometimes things need to be said.
