Launch of Climate Action Report for Essex

Lifestyle / Fri 13th Dec 2024 at 09:23am

ESSEX County Council has launched its third Climate Action Annual Report.

A new report that details the county’s journey to cut carbon emissions is now live.

The council’s third Climate Action Annual Report also addresses increasing risks from changing weather.

The report, along with the previous two, outlines climate action across the county, including the council’s delivery of its £250 million Climate Action Plan.

The report contains a breakdown of climate action in:

Boosting Jobs & Growing a Sustainable Economy
Green Infrastructure
Built Environment
Energy
Transport and Active Travel
Waste
Community Engagement

It also includes a wide range of case studies and information from private companies, public sector bodies and community groups across the county.

The final section details progress made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This includes emission tracking updated annually.

Essex County Council’s Climate Czar and Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Councillor Peter Schwier said:

“I am really proud of the work we are doing in Essex to mitigate climate change, and open all the opportunities from a growing sustainable economy for our businesses and residents.

“We want to be leaders and innovators in everything we do, climate action and the environment are no exception.

“This report perfectly showcases how far we have come, but also importantly highlights that there is still much more work to be done. The future is looking bright for this county.”

The Essex Climate Action Annual Report details the progress made towards reaching the net-zero targets published at the end of each year.

We are led by idiots who believe we are impacting the climate or that government can make changes to it. Still a great enrichment scam for some and makes many people be able to virtue signal. I will stick with 20 plus flights a year, not recycling, wood burner, petrol car, meat eating and all the other fun things in life.

Climate hoax

And all the while, those in power allow acres of green land to be buried under concrete. Concrete and tarmac does not remove carbon from the atmosphere, plant life does. This whole climate change feels like a big con to me just so "the man" can control us all.

Mt Grumpy, of course it is, it is about control and that is all it has ever been look at how many players get rich out of it on our money. Covid was the same, if the gov and media tell you something it is normally lies and manipulation

I wonder if people like the climate czar for Essex and Essex county council actually know what the climate is. Nothing we do in Essex will make the slightest bit of difference. Last year, twice in fact, I had sand on my car which the met office said had come from the Sahara. Why didn't Essex's actions stop it? Why, because the U.K. at 1% of global emissions, has very little juice left to squeeze from the orange. Look up the German term Dunkelflaute. It translates into a Dark Lull. Despite the recent high winds, the U.K. often suffers from the dark lull where the sky is grey so no sunshine for solar and no wind, so no wind power. The most recent of those saw gas being used to provide 70% of the nations electricity supply. This green power should be part of the answer but don't be fooled by the super rich and their companies trying to frighten you into accepting something that is fraudulent. Just a note of observation, Labours last environment minister (2008-2010) is the one who told everyone, "get diesel vehicles, they are great for the environment". That environment minister is the same one as now, Ed Milliband.

Interesting fact. Since we have increased the co2 level from 250-400+ parts per million over the last 200 years, the planet is now 15% greener as plant life thrives on co2. Optimum levels for plant life are 800-1200 parts per million. If co2 drops below 150 parts per million then all plants die and us with them. The only question I have is, if we are producing lots of cheap green energy, why do we have the most expensive energy bills in the world.
