DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault in Harlow are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing bike.

We’re continuing to investigate a serious assault in Harlow in which a boy sustained a serious head injury.
An investigation was launched after we received a call at 9.15am on Sunday 2 February reporting a 17-year-old boy had been found injured in a car park in the Guilfords area.
He had sustained a fractured skull and remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Now, we’re asking for the public’s help to find the victim’s bike, similar to the one in the picture, or for anyone who has information about who was riding it overnight between Saturday 1 February and Sunday 2 February to contact us.
Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook, who leads the investigation, said: “We believe that the victim was using this bike early evening on Saturday, but it has not been seen since.
“My team and his parents want to find out what happened in the hours before he was found injured at Guilfords.
“I’d ask the public to help us find this distinctive bike or find out who may have been riding it as it may help us piece together the events of that evening and anyone involved.”
The bike is a black Surron: it has the following distinguishing features;
Unfortunately, and most likely due to cutbacks in policing, community and youth provision, such is the level of crime that the police are forced to rely on householders CCTV. On another level it's related to the deindustrialisation of the uk that's created low wage dead end economy that feeds criminal activity. Apparently the chances of offendes being caught is low. The criminal justice system fails, prisons are full and there's little chance of offenders being turned around. No one wants to live in 1984 but comprehensive CCTV and tagging offenders seem to be the only answers short of going back to convict transportation to the Colonies!! Banning the sale of electric bikes and scooters or requiring them to be insured & registered might help.
The same bike that Hertfordshire Police have been looking for, tearing up the streets in Sawbridgeworth day and night. ripping through the fields and the rivers orchard, going through red lights with no lights on.
This kid didn't deserve what has happened to him BUT there is no smoke without fire...…this must be to do with drugs! These bikes are used for running gear so no doubt he is not just some innocent victim and all this is due to his connections within that life. It is disgusting what has happened but like I said the only innocent people that have been affected by this are the public.
Hope he makes a full recovery ♥️
