Giles Cooper OBE from Heritage Live said:
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to welcome the legendary Underworld to Heritage Live Festivals. It’s been a huge ambition of us all to have them perform in the stunning grounds of Audley End… and what a line-up of special guests! This is going to be awesome, and one of those nights etched in our memories forever – a real ‘I was there!” gig. Don’t forget to book Monday off work!”
Underworld (Rick Smith and Karl Hyde) are a true one-off, who are just as at home headlining the world’s biggest festivals and events, playing underground techno clubs and warehouses, sound-tracking theatre productions or taking over art galleries.
Having cemented their place in the ’90s underground techno scene with their peerless first album dubnobasswithmyheadman in 1994, the duo’s definitive breakthrough came in 1995 with the release of timeless anthem ‘Born Slippy (Nuxx)’, which became the soundtrack of a generation when it was featured in the film Trainspotting.
The success of that single catapulted the band from the underground into the heart of the mainstream. The following three decades saw them build on that success while never compromising; selling millions of albums, performing countless sold-out shows, providing scores to productions by Academy Award winning directors Anthony Minghella and Danny Boyle, exhibiting in galleries, and sound-tracking the Opening Ceremony to the London 2012 Olympic Games.
In the thirty years since that mould breaking debut, the band have established their reputation as one of the most groundbreaking and important electronic acts of all time, one that constantly pushes creative boundaries, twists genres and refuses to stay still.
Simian Mobile Disco are James Ford and Jas Shaw. Formed in 2005 originally as a side project, their music blends elements of techno, house, and experimental electronic music, with an emphasis on deep, minimalistic beats and intricate production. They are known for their innovative approach to sound design, often using a mix of analog and digital tools to create atmospheric, groove-heavy tracks.
Since releasing their debut album in 2007, they’ve earned a reputation for their energetic live shows, often improvising and reworking their tracks in real-time.
Groove Armada formed in 1996, and soon went onto become one of the most prominent dance music acts in the world. The duo of Tom Findlay and Andy Cato are known for their fusion of dance with smooth rhythms and soul. At Audley End, they’ll be performing one of their legendary, dynamic DJ sets.
Hot Chip’s position as one of Britain’s most beloved electronic bands is now firmly & magnificently set in stone, having produced eight albums, an infinite number of mixes & borderline devotional live performances. The Grammy, Ivor Novello and Mercury Prize nominated band’s DJ sets, like their music, sit across the worlds of synth-pop and alternative dance genres, drawing influences from house and disco.
Opening the event will be Fish56Octagon who has taken the electronic music industry by storm, the likes of which have never been seen before. One of the most in-demand DJ’s on the scene, he has over 150 bookings in 2025, including Glastonbury and BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend.
With his unparalleled, encyclopaedic and 360-degree knowledge of all genres of dance music – and armed with his massive music collection containing everything from hot unreleased dubs to loved classics, to underground heaters, in every style of dance music – has led him to become somewhat of an electronic music historian that people can’t get enough of.
Previous years of Heritage Live Festivals at Audley End have featured Richard Ashcroft, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Elbow, Soft Cell, Madness, Boy George & Culture Club, Sir Tom Jones, Jess Glynne, Simple Minds and many more.
