Reform UK candidate believes he can win Mark Hall By-election

Elections / Mon 21st Apr 2025 at 07:51am

ON Thursday May 1st, there is a by-election in the ward of Mark Hall.

Mark Hall, if not a bell weather ward, has certainly seen a number of councillors from different parties.

In 2014, UKIP had success and in 2021, the Tories also made gains. Since then it has gone back to Labour.

However can Reform UK build on their momentum and take their first ever seat in Harlow?

We went down to The Stow to speak to their candidate, Paul Jago.

Details of all candidates are below.

This gentleman is clueless regarding the realities of local government and local services. He spouts slogans and ill-informed opinions, but totally lacks costed policies.

And yet those who do know the realities of local government and local services continue to fail the people of Harlow. We have this current ping pong of local and national politicians of the two main parties and what has it achieved? We have a Labour government who promised to be a "Government of Service" who have only served themselves and the unions. We have a Labour mp who ignores the people of Harlow and is a Labour party yes man whilst failing to represent the people of Harlow. We have a tory council who effected a coup by taking over the council and by doing so removed a level of accountability for the people of Harlow. If having all that level of knowledge of services screws things up, why shouldn't the people look beyond the two party failing system?

Let's hope he does. Good luck Paul. Me and my wife would of voted for you if that was that ward we lived in. We never vote for any of the left wing parties such as Labour or Liberal democrats and will never vote for the Tories again. All the best Paul. From Dan and Anita.

A,B, and What Sheer Drama/ Keir Starmer isnt na?. Where have you been living for the past 9 months? , in a cave or something. This government isn't in to help us hard working British tax payers or our pensioners and disabled people, they are giving away the money that should be going towards helping our pensioners and disabled people, to other countries and towards all these lot who are being put up in our hotels. This loyalties are not in the right but then that's not hard because they haven't got any loyalties.

The reason that there are no local elections being held here,in Harlow and Essex in general, is because the Labour party and the Tories are running scared of the rising of Reform UK. This is anti democrated of Sheer Drama/ Kier Starmer not to allow the residents of Harlow/ Essex to have the right to vote. I bet the Tories are behind this idea of not allow local elections here in Harlow and Essex in general.

I told you before the General election that the Unions would run the country, perhaps you Labour voters will believe it now. Do you feel let down , you should do

UKIP has the best track record of achievement. Reform is,, some say, a one man dictatorship. UKIP will succeed again with the leadership of our dynamic Nic Tenconi, Martin Harvey Chairman Harlow Branch.

The Reform 'party'. Ex Brexit party, ex UKIP. All of them little more than Farage ego cults. Responsible for costing us 4%-5% off GDP and £40-£50 billion a year in lost taxes meaning that our taxes had to rise to fill the loss. Responsible for higher prices in the shops. Responsible for crops rotting in fields, food and medicine shortages, EU medical staff leaving and others like care workers and farm workers, hotel and restaurant workers, and others, now unable to come here. Responsible for loss of foreign investment, influence and prestige around the world. Responsible for loss of valuable European rights. And all for nothing of any value in return. All just to bolster the ego of Nigel Farage. Vote for Reform - local or national, there's still plenty more damage they can do.

I would advise everyone to look closely at the Harlow Green Party Candidate Julie Taylor. Julie has been working hard in Mark Hall for the past few years even before being elected. Taking on resident concerns, litter picking, reporting issues to the relevant authority's & chasing us the repairs. Julie attends council meetings, comminity events and takes a keen interest in local issues. What has Mr Jago done for Harlow?

Well said Ted. The amount of Labour supporters who have told me that they actually regret voting Labour in the general election last July. I do tell them, I did warn you, didn't I.

Martin Harvey. So was UKIP up until it's successful results in the 2014 local elections, Harlow being the most successful with 5 local councillors getting elected, me being one of them successfully elected councilors. What knocked UKIP Harlow down was the likes of the Labour party, liberal democrats and the other left wing politician parties going around brain washing the local residents that they no need for UKIP after the majority of the Harlow residents voted to leave the EU in the 2016 EU referendum. It's a bit like the dodgy decisions which are going on now such as not allowing us residents of Harlow/Essex to have a local election due to the main two parties running scared of the likes of UKIP and reform because the local residents have had enough of the broken promises and lies from the two main parties.

Lets be honest the lib lab con have utterly destroyed the UK, Dan has done OK leading the council but the cons cannot be trusted. Greens are basically communist and want us all poor, and falling for the net zero scam. So why not try reform there is literally nothing to lose and only potential gain. Take a look at the UK and the town 40 Years of the status quo has destroyed the UK and its fabric.

The thing here is, people go for the same two party's all the time, they have both destroyed the country, none more so than the present one. Why not look out side the box. Carnt do any worse, can they.

Dan Long, and all the other UKIP activists are all good people who put our Great Country first; the problem is politicians there for their own selfish reasons, bleeding our Country dry. Martin Harvey UKIP.
