ESSEX Housing, Essex County Council’s housing development team has won ‘Residential Project of the Year’ at the Constructing Excellence Essex Club Awards.
The awards celebrate the best in the construction industry. The council won the award for Oakview Walk, a development of 35 modern two, three and four-bedroom homes in Harlow.

Oakview Walk faced strong competition in the Residential Project of the Year category.
Of the 35 homes at the development, six were sold to Chelmer Housing Partnership for affordable housing. The remaining properties went on sale in 2024 with only five remaining.
The council entered Oakview Walk into the awards alongside Stanley Bragg Architects who designed the scheme.
The award submission focussed on how the development has created a desirable place to live with:
exceptional design
sustainability features
modern and reliable construction methods
infrastructure to help it shine in its surroundings
Councillor Lee Scott, Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Regeneration said:
“Oakview Walk is the most recent development from our exciting programme of new homes launching in the next five years.
“It is a great development, providing much needed housing in Harlow. It is great to see it being recognised.”
Councillor Ray Gooding, Chair of Essex Housing Development LLP, said: “I am extremely proud that this development is receiving the recognition it deserves. This site is a great example of how we can deliver high-quality housing on unused public sector land and how Essex Housing continues to raise the bar.”
Graeme Roe, Director of Stanley Bragg Architects, said: “We’re proud that Oakview Walk has received this recognition. From the outset, Essex Housing brought a clear and ambitious brief for contemporary, sustainable homes, and it was a pleasure to translate that vision into a carefully considered design. The success of the scheme is a real reflection of the collaborative spirit shared by the client, consultant team and contractor.”
