HARLOW Council leader, Dan Swords laid out his vision for the town for the next twelve months.
Councillor Swords was re-elected by his fellow Conservative councillors to lead the group for the next twelve months.
He created new two new portfolios. Perhaps the most significant one was Mike Hardware’s portfolio which is concentrated on local government re-organisation.
Cllr Swords rose to his feet on Thursday to give an overview into the detailed plans his council have over the next twelve months.

Love the Labour response. Dan and co striving to boost the town, Labour worried about e scooters, and complaining about the decision process. Dan has a majority, what they want will be passed.
In my youth a spent some time in Derek Hatton lead Militant Labour Liverpool. They knocked down huge swathes of the city and built poxy council homes in the wasteland – A visit to Harlow Town centre at the weekend reminded me of those days. I can’t think of any town in the South of England that looks quite as bad as the Harlow we have today.
I watched the Dan bit, but it was just a bit of waffle, finding a few ways to say the same thing but without really explaining how the town is going to be amazing, believing in Harlow, unleashing the lion etc! He is a Boris wannabe and it's tiresome. But can't see how it's going to be done, esp without raising council tax, who is going to pay? No real plans explained, how it's going to be paid for, when it is going to happen, just waffle. We've all seen no new hospital, the potholes, the crime feel like it's going up, the homelessness, the long waiting list for those in need of a home, none of this is getting any better, it feels that year by year it's getting worse. It would be refreshing to have some true honesty and the people in Harlow talked to like adults instead of more of this, from either party.
"Councillor Swords was re-elected by his fellow Conservative councillors to lead the group for the next twelve months." Harlows future for the next year is based on just 16 tory councillors? Remind me again where the local representation of Harlow residents is? None of them were voted in for this year.
How about this for a vision Mr Swords. Get out of your ivory tower and walk across to the so called works being done for the new bus station that you harp on about, and tell the people who are supposed to be working on site (if you can find them) to stop standing around chatting, looking at their mobile phones, and having constant fag breaks, and actually do some work!! Not a very difficult vision to achieve
Council leader Dan Swords unleashed the hyperbole, with the lion fast asleep! Labour's Jake Shepherd left out the weather and bike theft in deterring cycle use.
More smoke and mirrors from the Tories. If nothing else one has to ask why is it that questions for the Leader of the council and Portfolio holders have to be submitted to the council at least three clear working days before a meeting takes place and yet a report can be presented to councillors let alone published for the public on the day of the meeting. This is what they call democracy, no wonder residents have less and less faith in polititians.
To add to my previous comment, lets not forget that the Tories, aided by Labour have a vision for the Town Centre which includes up to a dozen tower blocks of flats up to 16 storeys high.
Why on earth are we having our market place dug up again and didn't see anyone working just like the work being done at the bus station saw 3 men just chatting and one just chatting on his phone ....all a waste of money as usual don't matter who we have sitting in the big chair x
