GLEN Paxman travelled to Oxford last Saturday to fly the Harlow AC at the British Masters Throws Pentathlon Championships, returning home with a gold medal in his pocket.
This staple Championships of the British Masters athletics calender consists of a 1 day multi event consisting of all four throws and the highly challenging heavy weight throw. Glen was the clear winner of the Mens 35-39 competition recording the following impressive series of marks

Hammer – 34m43cm – 448 pts
Shot – 9m85cm – 504 pts
Discus – 28m06cm – 426 pts
Javelin – 36m48cm – 414 pts
Weight – 10m02cm – 453 pts
Total score 2245 pts
His herculean effort was enough to finish 376 pts clear of his nearest rival.
Glen, along with twin brother Carl, are the track and field equivalents of swiss army knives. Having both first competed for the club in 2002 as U17s, they have both excelled in events from Hurdles and Pole Vault, to Steeplechase and Javelin.
Their continued dedication to the club is an inspiring example of the grit and perseverance that is at the heart of Harlow AC as it enters its 63rd year.
A truly Monstrous performance by the 'Boy' Paxminator! First time with the Heavy Hammer too. Great to see Glen embracing the Masters Ranks.
Well Done Glen.
