ON the 19th of July, St Clare Hospice proudly reopened its charity shop in Loughton’s high street, marking a welcome return to the area for St Clare Hospice, offering a fresh opportunity for the community to support local hospice care while discovering pre-loved treasures.

The grand opening began with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Cllr Louise Mead, who officially opened the shop and marked the occasion with a few words of support. The event drew in a cheerful crowd of supporters, shoppers, and passers-by. Following the ceremony, guests took time to explore the shop, chat with staff and volunteers, and enjoy refreshments in the new space.

Cllr Mead commented during the event: “I’m delighted to support St Clare Hospice with the opening of their new shop here in the heart of Loughton’s High Road. It’s a nice sized shop and has a whole range of different goods like kitchenware, furniture, bicycles, clothes – I think the people of Loughton will really appreciate it!

Every day, St Clare Hospice makes a real difference to people and their families, delivering free, compassionate care both at the hospice itself and outside in the community through their GriefLine and other initiatives. I wish St Clare the very best of luck with their new shop.”

The opening of St Clare Hospice’s twelfth charity shop marks an exciting milestone in the charity’s continued growth, expanding its presence while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable living and offering the community a greener alternative to fast fashion.
