Harlow man pleads guilty to shoplifting at Co-Op in Old Harlow fourteen times

A HARLOW man has pleaded guilty to stealing wine from the same shop on fourteen separate occasions in the space of six weeks.

John Horsman, aged 44, of Broadway Avenue, Old Harlow pled to the following at Chelmsford magistrates court.

On July 30th, 2025, at the Co-Op on the High Street in Old Harlow, you stole wine to the value of £13.65.

Horsman also pled guilty to thefts from the above location on:

May 14th, May 18th, May 25th.

June 23rd, June 27th.

July 14th, July 17th, July 18th, July 20th, July 21s, July 23rd, July 24th and July 25th

He was fined £120.00

he has been doing it for years, not just alcohol but food as well, £120 fine what a joke, robbed supermarkets for £1000’s

It's obviously been worth his while with £120 fine. He has stolen far more than he was fined and taking into account the cost of police hours etc. It's been quite lucrative for him. When oh when is our justice system going to get an overhaul and give out sentences that fit the crime. It's a bloody joke!!

No justice for the Coop - or the staff who have to put up with people like this day in, day out.. Put his photo up in the press so every shopkeeper knows his face and make him wear a sign around his neck, "caught and found guilty of stealing" before he enters any shop. Then maybe he finally will feel some shame and of course, shops will just not let him in.
