WE would like to wish long time Harlow resident Peter Mills, a happy 80th birthday.

We often see Peter at the Harlow parkrun. He is either volunteering or running.

He has recorded some notable times in the past. A 2 hrs 50 marathon runner to name just one time.

We first interviewed Peter a few years ago, on his experiences writing 99 episodes of Coronation Street.

This was just one small piece of Pete’s life. He has written for many other programmes and is enjoy a rich and varied life.

Peter is always a pleasure to speak to. Witty, engaging and never short of an opinion or seven.

Needless to say, he would be nothing without his lovely wife Joanna as well as a the children and grandchildren.

Here are the two interviews we did with Peter. The first is on scriptwriting and the second on his memories running the first ever London Marathon in 1981.

Peter will be down at the Harlow park run on Saturday where he will be attempting to take the Harlow Running Club Over 80 5k record.
