Letter to Editor: Lack of resources in Potter Street and link to deprivation

Dear Editor,
AS you may have noticed over time I have tried to highlight the lack of local services in Potter Street in Harlow on your platform. The lack of a doctors’ surgery; no local neighbourhood policing, and no local council services. All removed without consultation with residents’ by the relevant authorities.
Below is a summary of why Potter Street is considered one of the most deprived areas in the town and urgently needs for those services to be restored.

Will these vital services be restored any time soon? On current progress the answer is no.
Regards
Gary Roberts,
Potter Street
Gary, I think you are missing the point. Government's use the Indices of Deprivation to impress their rich donors with how well they are screwing the working class into the ground. It helps provide the evidence for their non-executive directorships, lucrative speaking engagements and free concert/Wimbledon tickets. Anyhow, here is the link to the official figures https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/english-indices-of-deprivation-2025/english-indices-of-deprivation-2025-statistical-release
Gary is right to continue to raise this issue, it is a shame that litle if anything is being done to try and improve things for the long term. We have a council which seems to believe that "regeneration" of the town means nothing more than building more homes, thus cramming more people in an already densely populated area, with little if any thought about the well being of those residents already here. They champion the building of what I am sure will be very nice housing estates (sorry, I meant to type villages) around Harlow on the back of the term Harlow and Gilston Garden Town and things like getting the grass cut and road signs cleaned but this does nothing to reduce deprivation
Regeneration of the town centre is a new patio
Gary. I for one hope you get a doctors surgery in Potter Street, it a basic right. But as far as local council services goes you have no chance, as there isn't any in The Stow, Bush Fair, Old Harlow, or Staple Tye either as far as I know.
