Harlow skip company Courtlands Waste evicted from property off Edinburgh Way

News / Fri 14th Nov 2025 at 11:04am

A HARLOW skip company has been evicted from their base in Edinburgh Way by Network Rail.

YH went down there and found it all locked up, with white legal notices pinned to the gates and a security guard in the grounds.

On closer inspection a white notice stated: “the landlord has re-entered the premises….as a consequence of the re-entry, the lease is forfeited and the premises have been re-secured.

As you can see from our film, a number of skips have been deposited on the road and they are starting to build up.

A number of readers had contacted Your Harlow telling us they had hired skips from Courtlands Waste Management in North Place, Harlow but they were not able to return them because when they rang them, no-one was picking up.

We contacted Courtland Skip Hire who (picked up) and confirmed that they are not operating from North Place “at the moment” but also stated that they hope to arrange to get people’s skips uplifted.

A check with Companies House confirms that Courtlands Waste Management (UK) Limited is still an active company.

These are tough times for Harlow's and UK's businesses and workforce. Many of Harlow's and UK's Small to Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) are struggling in the these inflationary times during the current declining economic climate. Unemployment is worryingly increasing. I hope that we will not see an exacerbation of these negative trends, but I fear that we might.

C 5.4 million (over 99%) of UK's 5.5 million businesses are SMEs and c 80% of these are family businesses. SMEs employ 60% of UK's workforce and generate c 52% of UK's General Domestic Product, or GDP. UK has c 70,000 large businesses or giant corporations, which produce c 48% of UK's GDP and which employ c 40% of the workforce.

Those who voted labour at the last election have only themselves to blame. Those who lived through the seventies warned Labour would ruin the economy through spendthrift policies and excessive taxation , but people thought otherwise. Well look at the UK after just a year and a half. Despite constantly blaming others it is their failed policies that have resulted in the state of the country today, divided , depressed, broke.

From what I understand, this has nothing to do with government and everything to do with a change of ownership. The new owners took in as much waste as they could from paying customers, then did a runner with the momey, leaving several long term employees without a job! For those who used to work there, come and see me if you havent yet got a job. I can't offer driving but I may have other roles. You know who I am. Phil

They are a good local company who I used a few times. Always paid cash, so got a discount too. Anyone recommend any other skip company locally?
