Another accident on the race track ? What is it this time ? Red light jumper ? right turn attempt ? Or speeding over 40 as per usual I hope no serious injuries 🙏

The aftermath looked awful, I hope the people who got hurt made it, they were receiving CPR when we passed by. Thoughts are with them.

No not a red light jumper or someone turning right into Mulberry Green but at the same spot as the accident on Friday evening. Between farm entrance and old council yard

My thoughts are with who ever was involved. No matter what the cause was, people have been seriously injured and this worries and upsets me greatly. I wish them all well. This road is supposed to be 40mph and the majority of vehicles exceed this speed. I always travel at 40mph travelling both ways, but impatient vehicles underpass me easily going 60mph, sometimes faster! I've even had vehicles overtake me crossing the double white line markings. The speed signage should be larger, well illuminated and clear of any over hanging branches. Instead we have 1pence sized signage currently in situ, spaced out far too far apart. It is used as a rat race with vehicles undertaking and switching lanes erratically. This road is dangerous. It has always been and will continue to be so until restrictions are imposed and proper signage installed. Perhaps now is the time for speed cameras?

They want to do away with that stupid ‘hamburger’ roundabout and leave it as it was. That would help. Too many cars are kept stationary for too long unnecessary at the different sets of traffic lights. It’s like a race track along that road. Should have speed cameras.

Awful, awful road! Absolute rat race, length of road with turnings, traffic lights and a pedestrian path running parallel but people are too much in a rush and can’t obey the 40mph speed limit. The amount of times I have people over/under taking me is astonishing. Some form of speed restriction needs to be put in place

JS . Should not need to look at speed signs , most vehicles nowadays show road speed on your dash , or if you have one your dash camera.

I live right next to this road. This is the 4th accident in 2 weeks that I’ve either seen or heard. Nobody sticks to the 40mph limit and it’s not surprising that there are so many accidents. As I’m writing this, large artic Lorries are bombing along the road. On another note, something also needs to be done about the illegal right turns off and onto the road. It’s constant and extremely dangerous. But when you ask the highways engineers about it, they just respond with ‘the Golden Park developers promised no one would turn right in or out’ of roads like Aspen Way and Marsh Lane. No doubt Essex Police will stand next to the road and take some number plates. They’ll then revel in the fact they’re ‘keeping the road safe’ when in fact they and the county council aren’t doing anywhere near enough. The only way to stop these idiots is to have a variable speed check from Mark Hall School to Sheering Road.

I feel for anyone involved in the Gilden Way problems yesterday, it is very sad when there is a loss of life, especially at this time of year. Unfortunately this road has seen more problems than expected, so some advance planning to reduce emergency traffic issues would be good road management. Whatever the cause of the Gilden Way problems yesterday, the traffic management at times like this needs to be reviewed. The backroads through Churchgate Street (Hobbs Cross Road and Foster Street) were not designed to take the volumes of traffic, especially as part of the back road was closed off for drainage works and a diversion with serious potholes being used to bypass the closure. I nearly ended up with a large 4x4 hitting my car as the driver tried to avoid a pothole by coming onto my side of the road. It was a good job I was driving slowly. A couple of thoughts … 1) Junction 7a could have been closed and signed as no access to Harlow for the duration of the closure of Gilden Way. Junction 7 could have been used. 2) The bollards stopping right turn from J7a into Mulberry Green could have been removed until Gilden Way was opened again. (They are designed to be able to be knocked down by emergency vehicles). This would have allowed local vehicles to avoid using the backroads. As a side issue, there is far too much time wasted by the Gilden Way Hamburger roundabout traffic lights. So often there is a queue from Churchgate Street and Gilden Park being held by a red light, yet there is space for the cars to move into on the roundabout. As a result it is not unusual to see cars cross a red light.
