Epping Forest District Council confirms by letter that it will not request a delay to the local elections

EPPING Forest District Council has confirmed by letter that it will not request a delay to the local elections scheduled for May 2026.

Council Leader, Councillor Chris Whitbread, has written to the Minister for Local Government, Alison McGovern MP, responding to her offer to postpone elections. In his letter, Councillor Whitbread makes clear that the council believes residents should have the opportunity to vote as planned.

Councillor Chris Whitbread, Leader of Epping Forest District Council said: “The right to vote is fundamental, and we believe our residents should have their say.

“That is why we are not asking for a postponement of our May 2026 elections.”
