Harlow MP Chris Vince pleads to PM Keir Starner over residents stranded in Middle East

News / Tue 3rd Mar 2026 at 12:21pm

HARLOW MP Chris Vince rose on the floor of the House of Commons to raise concerns to Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, regarding local residents stranded in the Middle East.

Mr Vince said: “I join the Prime Minister in paying tribute to our brave service personnel, who every day work incredibly hard to keep us safe.

“I also pay tribute to him for his leadership on this matter. A number of people from my Constituency of Harlow are trapped in Bahrain and Dubai, including one who is pregnant. What advice can the Prime Minister give to my constituents who are worried about their safety?

Keir Starmer Leader of the Labour Party, The Prime Minister replied: “I thank my hon. Friend for raising the case of his constituents; I am sure they are very anxious about the situation.

“I assure them and him that we are working at pace with our allies to get a safe and swift route for them to come out of the region, which is what they all want”

Chris Vince pays tribute to Starmer's leadership. I thought that came as standard with Chris Vince. I just hope the Labour government have learned some lessons from Iraq. I also wonder how UK citizens would react if a Muslim country bombed Lambeth Palace during Christmas and killed the Archbishop of Canterbury? Killing a Muslim religious leader during the holy month of Ramadan is appalling and it just turns them into a martyr. No condemnation on this killing and illegal war from Vince, which proves yet again the Muslim community cannot count on him in any way. Vince will probably follow Bill Rammell down the path to hell as the Labour Together tainted £10k donation assures he will.

Maybe, I'll give Chris Vince a chance to echo the words of his Labour colleague Rupa Huq of Ealing Central and Acton who said in Parliament yesterday: "...Yet the methods used surely risk undermining the rules-based order. A girls’ school was hit, with 150 kids killed; we appear to have normalised the bombing of schools, hospitals, refugee camps and universities in Gaza by one of the two instigators of this action. What does the PM see as the end game of this war, and how will he stop Operation Fury turning into Operation Futility? If Harmer had a spine they would already be bringing them back.

Dave Foreman . You seem to forget that religious leader slaughtered 30,000 of his own people, because they wanted a change of government, that was his reply to them.Is that okay by you.

Dave , forgot to mention he also wanted to wipe Isreal and America off the face of the earth, with Nukes when he finally got his hands on one. If he threatened the UK , I would hope our goverment would do the same as The USA, wouldn't you.

David you have an inability to be impartial and I respect that but you are talking Hogwash. When you have Russia and Iran in the United Nations demanding human rights and international law be respected, then truly the lunatics really have taken over the asylum. Your lack of concern for the estimated 30,000 peacefully protesting Iranian muslim people killed by Irans top table, is not only astounding but ultimately predictable. As to Vince, I think most of Harlow agrees he is in this for himself and the £93k plus expenses a year till the next election. We also know he would rather vote against the people of Harlow just to keep his party in power

Chris, how about telling us your perspective on the "war". And I hope you are not advocating that we bring all these people "home" free of charge

David, are you saying it would be ok to kill the Iran leadership outside of Ramadam? Yes, I am being facetious but Eddie's points are very valid

Doubt if Chris Vince could Iran, Qatar or Oman on a map! Just more irrelevant soundbites from shortly to be more expensive MP on almost a basic of £99,000! Money well wasted.
