Chair of Harlow Reform UK announces his departure

News / Wed 27th May 2026 at 12:04pm

THE chair of Harlow Reform UK has announced his departure.

Scott Hegley stood unsuccessfully as a candidate for Harlow in the Essex County Council elections in May.

In a letter seen by YH, Mr Hegley said:

“I write to announce that after one year in harness I intend to step down as Branch Chair. Since January it has been my intention to review my position following the May 7th elections. The basis for my stepping down is that I recognise that I am unable to commit to giving this vital role the considerable time and impetus it requires, and that the branch deserves as we move forward.

There is no conflict in my decision as I feel the time is right for the branch to look to new leadership to build on its strengthened foundations. To allow for a replacement to be found without undue delay it’s my intention to step down as soon as I can effect the handover of IT and branch governance systems to Paul Jago, Deputy Chair. On an interim basis Paul will assume the role of Acting Chair, while the process gets underway to identify my replacement.

The role of Chair is not one for the faint-hearted and certainly brings its fair share of challenges. At the same time it also brings opportunity and, on balance, I have enjoyed it and especially enjoyed the camaraderie and support of our wonderful Harlow membership who share my passion to fight for a better, stronger and unashamedly patriotic Great Britain. In that I know we’ll all continue to play our part until we see Nigel into No.10.

“I’ll sign off by offering my sincere thanks to you all and by looking forward to remaining active in the branch. I also look forward to a newly constituted committee and the future, successful journey of Reform UK Harlow”.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Laughable party who didn't offer anything in their campaign for the people of Harlow. Useless.

Once a loser, always a loser. He married a “silent” witness to Stuart Lubbock’s death at Barrymore’s, who was a direct report of his in his role as a manager at a national charity, who was many years younger than him over whom he was in charge, and then as a total grass started a company that directly attacks British workers over their legitimate health issues and concerns. Drug tests, drink tests, using medical professionals to fire 3rd party employees…Absolute scumbag grass.

He bragged about previously being a school governor at a primary school in Harlow despite supporting a party that is anti-immigrant, and pro white-British. All children and young people in the Town deserve support, and equality of education regardless of background. Seems off.

I noticed Scott Hegley said he had to "effect the handover of IT". Scott would be well advised to do a dump of the internet history to cover his back.

So Scott Hegley, the man from out of town has decided not to stick around? Or maybe he was given a kick after leading what must be the most disastrous electoral campaign in Essex, even making Harlow Labour appear semi-credible in comparison, which is really stretching the limits of credulity. On a night when Reform UK was largely victorious across Essex, in Harlow they made no headway. His leadership (or lack of) stands out starkly. His downfall is the result of sheer arrogance and complacency mixed with large dose of indolence. He was certain Reform would sweep the board effortlessly with no credible plan for Harlow. He greatly underestimated the people of Harlow. His embarrassment must be even more pronounced having arranged for his party leader Nigel Farage to visit the town only to be trounced by Dan Sword's administration in every ward. A truly pathetic performance. The only thing that has been swept from the board is he himself. No great loss!
