STEWARDS Academy students, with representation from all year groups, took to the Harlow Rock School stage to battle it out for the title of ‘Best Band’ on Wednesday 20th May.
The venue was packed, the music was loud and the performers had a fantastic time performing on a gig stage in a professional venue.

Six bands took part in the battle and each got to perform one song with Mr Springthorpe judging best vocal, best guitar, best bass, best drums, and overall best band. The overall title was claimed by ‘The Sausage Rolls’. Jack Parry won Best Bass, Amber Pask won best drummer, Toby Tofts won Best Guitar and Fleur Fairservice and Taylor Jackson won best vocal.

Julia Lysons, Head of Music, said: “The students involved had a chance to go down to Rock School in the afternoon to rehearse and get a feel for the venue before returning for a 6 o’clock start. All the bands played were excellent and loved taking part. Parents we able to come and watch and they helped to make the event a huge success with a fantastic atmosphere.”
Di da Vighi, Head of Performing Arts, said: “The Battle of the Bands was masterminded by the wonderful Stewards music team, Mrs Lysons and Miss Harvey. They have been working with these students throughout the year to develop their confidence, teamwork, and resilience as they mould into the bands we saw perform on the evening. Working in collaboration with Charlotte and Sue from Rock School the event was a brilliant success, and plans are already underway for next year! Well done to everyone involved.”
