THE CHAIR of Harlow Council, cllr Linda Pailing paid a fulsome tribute to the Harlow councillors who are stepping down at the next local elections in May.

Councillor Guy Mitchinson (Cons-Staple Tye), cllr Mike Garnett (Cons-Great Parndon) and cllr Paul Sztumpf will not be seeking re-election on May 22nd.

The lady chair paid testament to their hard work, commitment to the town and individual contributions to helping make the town a better place.

Cllr Pailing also paid tribute to the leader of the council, cllr Mark Wilkinson who was returning to the back benches.

The lady chair pointed out that when cllr Wilkinson took over as leader in 2008, Labour only had six councillors. Now it has 21.

Absolutely right too! Guy, Mike and Paul have all done a great job serving our Community, and they all deserve our thanks and best wishes. Mark too, who has done a great job during a hard time for his party. I just hope Labour don't elect someone who underminds what Mark and his friendly personality have done!
