Curious scientists took a trip to Geneva to indulge in the topic.

Year 10 and 11 students from Burnt Mill Academy, in First Avenue, Harlow, visited the CERN laboratory to see how science is used.

Paul Andrew, lead practitioner, said: “The students got to meet with a scientist who explained to them all about CERN, what goes on there and how it works. They went on a tour and various engineers spoke to them about their roles, the issues they face and what inventions have come out of CERN, such as the

MRI scanner, the internet and touch screen development.
“This will help the students to make more sense of their science lessons in future.”
The group also visited an ICT museum and sampled Swiss culture at a restaurant with local food, music and cheese tasting.
