Athletics: Harlow Running Ladies shine again

HARLOW Running Club competed in the penultimate round of the East Herts and West
Essex Cross Country League over a very muddy and very hilly 5 mile course hosted
by Hoddesdon Triathlon Club. Once again the ladies team outshone the men by
finishing 1st in their league, with the men just being edged out of 3rd place by
1 point. On the day Harlow were placed 2nd team overall and after four races
have moved up to 2nd place overall. League positions are Ware Joggers 16pts,
Harlow RC 13pts, Hoddesdon Triathlon Club 12pts, Bishop’s Stortford RC 11pts and
Saffron Walden Striders 8 pts.

In the Ladies race Louise Tankard finished in 4th place out of 72 finishers in
an excellent, considering the demanding conditions, 40min 11sec. She was
followed home by Julia Gardiner (5th in 40.41), Carinne Jay (8th in 41.34) and
Sharon Wright (10th in 42.26).
In the Men’s race Rich Hynes finished in 5th place out of 128 finishers in a
fantastic 32min 48sec. He was followed by Jared Bethell (7th in 33.38), Alex
Smith (20th in 36.27) and Jason Haigh (23rd in 36.38).

Meanwhile at the Folksworth 15 mile race in Cambridgeshire Jamie Jephcott
finished in 124th place out of 421 finishers in 1hr 53min 55sec. Colin Moody was
155th and 1st Vet 65 in 1hr 57min which is a new HRC Vet 65 record.

At the Victoria Park 10K in East London Katharine Fennelly finished in 333rd
place out of 933 finishers in 49min 03sec.

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Alex Smith finished in 3rd place out of 133 finishers
in a superb 20min 43sec. He was followed by Martyn Coulter (9th in 22.27), Terry
Ridge (10th in 22.31), Anna Baker (13th and 2nd Female in 23.06), Paul Schroder
(19th in 23.45), Katherine Fennelly (27th and 3rd Female in 24.53), Alan
Wellbelove (28th in 24.57), Paul Dixon (31st in 25.07), Kerry Mavris (36th and
1st Female Vet 40 in 26.09), Debbie Barry (40th and 1st Female Vet 50 in 26.38),
Louise Cootes (50th in 28.10), Hossein Erfani (85th and 1st Vet 60 in 31.57 PB)
and Pushpa Mistry (86th in 31.58).

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Luck finished in 26th place
out of 146 finishers in 22min 33sec. He was followed by Spencer Brooks (30th in
23.13), David Page (46th in 25.07), wife Janice (49th and 2nd Female Vet 50 in
25.35), Louise Kedge (52nd in 25.51 PB), Austin Nyamande (73rd in 27.57 PB),
Andy Kinney (75th in 28.14) and Brenda Clayton (83rd and 1st Female Vet 65 in
29.31).

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Jason Haigh finished in 4th place out of 185
finishers in an excellent 20min 07sec.

At the Orpington Parkrun 5K in South London Mark Hayward finished in 2nd place
out of 113 finishers in 22min 18sec.

At the Albert Parkrun in Melbourne, Australia, Jon Steadman finished in 45th
place out of 391 finishers in 21min 80sec.
