A group of 12 schoolchildren have passed an ECFRS Firebreak course in front of their parents, teachers and other pupils. Students from Burnt Mill, Stewards, Passmores and Mark Hall academies, all in Harlow, took part in a special pass out ceremony at Harlow Fire Station on Friday, February 5.

As part of the five-day course, students used powerful hose reels, wore specialist breathing apparatus, climbed ladders and performed mock-rescues using the station’s training tower.
The course was funded by the academies and the Essex Community Foundation.
Sub Officer Peter Mountier, who was lead instructor on the course, said: “All the students should be proud of their achievements over the week. They worked hard and participated fully in each lesson.
“The students were fantastic and I hope they have taken home some vital life skills that will not only boost their confidence but can help in everyday life.”
