BUS operator Arriva is introducing a simplified fare structure in Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford this weekend.
From Sunday, April 24, the price of adult weekly tickets is being reduced from £13.50 to £13.20 and many other fares will be reduced by as much as 20p.
Emma Taylor, Head of Commercial at Arriva, said: “The new pricing model, which is based on one created by our parent company Deutsche Bahn and was recently rolled out in Colchester, is designed to provide customers with great value fares as well as simplifying the pricing structure, making bus travel easier.
“Traditionally fares are based on mileage but over the years various factors, including route changes, mean we ended up with a rather complicated system. Although some fares have increased slightly, they are still good value and now the weekly ticket is certainly worth investing in for regular customers.”
Weekly tickets can be purchased in advance online, via the app or from the bus driver. Using the free Arriva Bus app, which is available on iPhone and Android devices, passengers can track their bus in real time and plan their journey with information available on the next bus, the nearest bus stop and which bus to catch.
