Athletics: Wedding Bells for Paul and Wendy in Las Vegas

HARLOW Running Club members Paul Schroder and Wendy Spring went to Las Vegas to
get married and also run a couple of races. On Saturday they completed the Las
Vegas Rock and Roll 5K, Paul finishing in 179th place out of 8249 finishers in
22min 51sec, Wendy in 324th place in 24.22. On Sunday they completed the Las
Vegas Rock and Roll Half Marathon, Paul in 10,376th place out of 22,052
finishers in 2hrs 34min 56sec and Wendy in 10,383rd place in 2.34.57. This
included a stop at 3 miles to get married, after which they then continued with
their race.

Meanwhile at the Stebbing 10 Mile race there were six personal best times for
the distance (PB) and a team prize for the ladies. First home was Jamie Jephcott
in 33rd place out of 461 finishers in and excellent 1hr 06min 46sec. He was
followed home by Adrian Fell 36th in 1.07.35 and Martyn Coulter 58th in 1.11.07
(PB). Carinne Jay finished in 62nd place and 3rd Female in 1.11.32 (PB), Julia
Gardiner 82nd in 1.14.05 (PB) and Sandi Rust 98th in 1.15.11 (PB). These three
combined to win the Ladies team prize. Not far behind was Catherine Ridge in
103rd place in 1.15.39 (PB). John Tennant was 107th and 2nd Vet 60 in 1.16.00
and Colin Moody 112th and 3rd Vet 60 in 1.16.52. Graham Saville was 131st in
1.18.30, Andy Bradley 138th in 1.19.04, Alan Cootes 153rd in 1.20.31, Martin
McColgan 175th in 1.22.03, Debbie Barry 205th and 2nd Female Vet 55 in 1.25.28,
Louise Cootes 241st in 1.28.00 (PB), Pasquale Pellecchia 249th in 1.28.07,
David Page 279th in 1.30.03, Michelle Hyde 281st in 1.30.27, Karen Moir 285th in
1.30.52, Andy Kinney 385th in 1.40.41 and Kerry Mavris 386th in 1.40.52 in her
debut at the distance.

At the Met League XC at Stevenage, in the ladies race over a 6KM distance,
Hannah Cox finished in 168th place out of 182 finishers in 33min 17sec and
Louise Kedge was 170th in 33.43. In the men’s race, over an 8KM distance, Andy
Bradley finished in 407th place out of 441 finishers in 39.48.

At the Harlow parkrun 5K, on a wet and miserable Saturday morning, Ryan Smith
finished in 10th place out of 135 finishers in a PB time of 21min 08sec. He was
followed by John Bull 14th in 22.15, Steve Jack 18th in 23.36, Spencer Brooks
21st in 23.55, Paul Dixon 22nd in 24.00, Andy Smith 26th in 24.52, Roy Steven
31st in 25.15, Graham Saville 33rd in 25.29, Martin Westley 34th in 25.45, Terry
Ridge 36th in 25.57, Robin Lozeau 53rd in 27.40, Catherine Ridge 62nd in 28.46,
Louise Cootes 63rd in 28.48, Martin Elven 68th in 29.12, Alan Wellbelove 88th in
32.02, Jane Evans 90th in 32.04, Brenda Clayton 98th in 32.48 and Anna Robey
133rd in 47.05.

At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K David Page finished in 42nd place out of 152
finishers in 25min 52sec and Laura Jephcott was 66th in 27.45.

As well as running the Stebbing 10 on Sunday Andy Kinney also ran the Poppy 10k
at Bexhill-on-Sea on Friday, finishing in 150th place out of 247 finishers in
59min 59sec. Then on Saturday he ran the Hastings parkrun 5K, finishing in 61st
place out of 97 finishers in 28min 11sec.
