IN AN echo of (the then) prime minister Gordon Brown’s statement of ‘British jobs for British workers”, Harlow Council leader, Mark Wilkinson told the full council meeting on Thursday night that he was committed to a policy of ‘Harlow homes for Harlow people.”
Cllr Wilkinson said: “Harlow homes for Harlow people is part of our overall commitment to better homes and better standards for our residents.
“We want better homes and better housing. This is being shown in the significant work being undertaken as part of the decent homes standards.
“£100 million is being invested over the next two years to improve Harlow’s council homes.”
The Tory leader, Andrew Johnson countered that he once again welcomed a commitment made by Labour that had been made by the Tories when they were ruling.
