Old Brentwoods 258-9 beat Harlow Town 94 all out by 164 runs.

HARLOW Town suffered a humiliating defeat to Old Brentwoods on Saturday.

Old Brentwoods won the toss and decided to have a bat. They got off to a great start, with 50 runs coming from the first 7 overs. The spinners were introduced and town eventually got the break through when Ramya Upadhyay dismissed Osman Chaudhry for 27. All of Old Brentwoods top 5 contributed with over 20 runs. Abdul Rehman (66) and Khalid Sarwar (73) both made half centuries with Sarwar hitting some big sixes. The spinners where the best bowlers for Town with Ramya taking 3 wickets and Shaun Alderson with figures of 7-1-35-5.

Town thought the target set by Old Brentwood was par and, being unbeaten in 3, were feeling confident of putting in a good chase.

What followed can only be described as a shocking batting display from Harlow Town on what was a good wicket. Shiraz Ali made a good 37 with extras being the second top scorer on 12. No other batsmen made it into double figures for Town and they were bowled out with 17 overs still to be played on just 94 runs. Abdul Gafangaf 9.4-3-14-5 was the pick of the bowlers for Old Brentwoods along with captain Shahid Iqbal 4-2-6-3.

Ashley Alderson: It was an embarrassing display from us with the bat. After going 3 games unbeaten we felt confident coming into this match. Unfortunately our batting has let us down all season. We will need to pick ourselves up and find another good run of form.
