Harlow Town 8 v 3 Barkingside

HARLOW TOWN made a great debut on their new 3G pitch with a devastating 8-3 victory against new boys Barkingside at Barrows Farm.

The Hawks took an early lead in the 9th minute through a Michael Akande header from a corner.

But the lead only lasted four minutes as Barkingside were awarded and coverted a penalty in the 13th minute.

Barkingside held Harlow at bay for the next fifteen minutes.

Hawks deservedly re-took the lead from another corner. The ball pinged around the box until Shane Stamp bundled the ball home. A few minutes later, Alex Read did what he did best as he slid it past the keeper.

Harlow extended the lead early into the second half when the Junior Dadson/Alex Read combination worked again. Read struck the ball towards goal, the keeper parried and Dadson fired it home.

Barkingside pulled one back on the hour but you had the feeling there was no stopping the Hawks. In the 69th minute, Dadson slides the ball past the keeper for a 5-2 lead. A minute later, not to be out-done Read strike again.

With the score at 6-2, the fans called for more and the Hawks did not disappoint. A dreadful error by the ‘Side defence saw Robbie Martin get in on the act to make it seven.

Barkingside once again were gifted a soft goal but that just left time for the goal of the night from Chinedu McKenzie who looped the ball from 25 yards over the keeper and into the top corner.

With four points from six, Harlow entertain pointless Tilbury on Saturday at Barrows Farm.
