Football: Hawks see off dreary Dockers

HARLOW TOWN completed a great first week of the season with a fine 3-0 win against Tilbury at Barrows Farm.

Tilbury have had a dreadful start to the season and were not looking forward to coming to Barrows Farm, where Harlow have already built up a fair reputation.

Harlow made a strong start, with patient build-up play and incisive passing opening Tilbury up.

The only real surprise of the first half was that Harlow’s possession didn’t result in a goal and the teams remained deadlocked at half time.

In the second half Danny Chapman’s team came out fighting and they took the lead four minutes after the restart when Alex Read’s hold up play created space for Robbie Martin and Read picked him out and the striker scored.

Harlow were controlling the game and looked solid at the back with new signings Darren Blewitt and Glen Parry dominating.

Chances from Read, Antoine and Junior Dadson were all missed to keep the nerves of the Harlow fans on edge but in the 71st minute Leon Antoine picked up the ball 25 yards out and fired home past James Marrable.

A good home performance was rounded off when Antoine put Dadson through on goal and he slid the ball in.
