Open House weekend set for across Harlow

THIS year seven Harlow sites are opening for this national event run by English Heritage – Harlowbury Chapel, Gibberd Garden, 77 & 180 Bishopsfield, Parndon Hall, St Paul’s Church, St John’s ARC, Harlow Museum
All events are free and illustrate the amazing history of Harlow, from a Norman chapel through the Arkwrights’ Victorian family home to modern post war planning. The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust has agreed to open Parndon Hall for the first time for Heritage Open Days and visitors will see the art of Elizabeth Arkwright.
Two residents on the award winning Bishopsfield estate are opening their doors on Sunday. Harlow Museum is ‘Spinning a Tale’ and offering behind the scenes glimpses of its treasures. There will be live music and exhibitions at St John’s ARC; Harlowbury Chapel has a fascinating exhbition; St Paul’s Church’s John Piper mosaic is a must-see and you will be tempted with cakes in a good cause. No visit to Harlow is complete without a trip to the Gibberd Garden with free entrance on Sunday and a chance to see Sir Frederick Gibberd’s archive.
